Good riddance to 2020!

Now it’s time to deal with the aftermath of an unprecedented 2020 year.

How well you weathered the storm will determine the taste of your pudding (proof is always in the pudding).

2020 was a time of hunkering down and dealing with each day as it came. For some it was busy as stink, others are facing bankruptcy.

Even the grave digger prospers during times of war. So does the florist.

How can businesses, great and small, survive when the the world and its money seem to be holding on for dear life?

It is always a good exercise to carve out time in your busy’ness and take stock of what works what doesn’t. Examine trends, rabbit holes, latest crazes and red herrings.

It is during such lulls or lockdowns that we need to ask ourselves the deeper questions, “what am I doing, what am I selling, and does any of this mean anything on the grand scheme of things?” Well, don’t ponder too long or too hard, you might convince yourself to close up shop and retire on some beach in Guatemala and sell fruit beverages to the locals. That doesn’t actually sound too bad, now does it?

I think what I’m getting at, in all this round a bout flowery surmising, is that in addition to taking stock of what really matters on an eternal perspective, we also have to find other gears of preparation.

In other words, equipping. We need to continue equipping ourselves for what is next, what might come around the corner. To not only be ready for what might come, but ready to pounce and secure what belongs to you, could be clients, market share, credibility, a leg up on the competitor.

Take the lull-time to educate yourself or your staff in something that will better your personal career, or the company at large.

Equipping is time well spent. It will prove to pay dividends one day. Literally.
